The Circle And The Triangle

Many people have seen the AA symbol of the circle around the triangle.
Maybe I’m the only one, but, i really didn’t care what it represented.
it never even occurred to me that it represented anything.

when i went through the big book with my sponsor, this was the very first thing
that we came to. he told me that the triangle represented the 3 sides of the disease
of alcoholism. first was the physical, then the mental, and finally the spiritual.

it was explained to me that all three sides of the triangle must be given attention.
the triangle is a very strong geometric shape, but if you were to take away one of the sides, the structure
would collapse in on itself. it is like that with the recovery process also.
meetings take care of one side, while working with your sponsor take care of another, and
being of service takes care of the third.

the circle represents a feeling of oneness with the universe or feeling complete.
this is how we feel when we are working all three sides of the triangle.
